SCADA

Ignition and EnvisionSCADA

A SCADA system collects data from PLCs and equipment, shows the process in real time and alerts you when something goes wrong. Elio delivers two modern platforms – both web-based and with no per-client cost – and helps you choose the one that fits your plant.

Ignition and EnvisionSCADA

Ignition by Inductive Automation

Ignition is one of the most widely used SCADA platforms in the world. The platform is modular: you buy a server licence and the modules you need – such as visualisation, alarm notification, history and reporting – and expand over time. Each server has unlimited tags, connections, clients and designers, so the hardware sets the limit.

Ignition is built on open standards such as OPC UA, MQTT, SQL and Python. Screens open in the browser, on mobile and on industrial panels, and the system can run on-premise, on edge devices or in the cloud.

Elio is an approved and certified Ignition integrator.

  • Modular – buy only what you need
  • Unlimited tags and clients per server
  • Perspective for browser and mobile
  • Alarms, notifications, trends and reports
  • History in an SQL database
  • Large ecosystem of modules and integrations

EnvisionSCADA

EnvisionSCADA by Omnicon Automation is a European HMI and SCADA platform built 100% on HTML5. Development is free – you only pay for a runtime licence when the plant goes live. The licence is chosen by tag count (or unlimited), and all features and unlimited clients are always included.

The platform has drivers for Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Siemens S7, EtherNet/IP, Beckhoff ADS, DNP3, BACnet and IEC 104, among others, with no extra driver fees, and can pass data on via MQTT, OPC UA and SQL. It runs on a standard PC, industrial PC, panel PC or in Docker on Linux.

Which one is right for you?

The main difference is the licensing model. With Ignition you pay for the modules you use, with unlimited tags. That pays off on large plants and when many systems, databases and sites are brought together – but a small plant that needs many features can become expensive. With EnvisionSCADA all features are included and the price depends on the number of tags, making it an affordable and complete choice for small and medium-sized plants.

We help you assess your needs – and we can also upgrade or rebuild existing SCADA systems.
